About Me

Deaconess Smith voices the same sentiment of the psalmist David. Deaconess Smith was born in Atlanta, Georgia, the baby girl of five siblings born to her proud parents in the persons of the late Reverend C. Carzell Reid and Mother Lucille W. Reid (Founders of New Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Atlanta, Ga.)

Raised in a faith-based home, Deaconess Smith was predestined to sing and worship the Lord; thusly, leading her first solo “Searching”  taught by “Big Mama” the late Mother Luella Woodard. Under the leadership of Dr. James L. Henderson, Jr., Deaconess Smith debuted at New St. John Missionary Baptist Church (Atlanta, Ga.) accompanied by the Young Voices youth choir at the early age of 7. Deaconess Smith was educated in the Fulton and DeKalb County School Systems and currently attends the University of Phoenix pursuing her Bachelor of Science Degree in Healthcare Administration. In 1987 Deaconess Smith met her soul mate Deacon Keith Smith; after a lengthy courtship they united in Holy Matrimony on December 5, 1998, they have one son Kaylan Deshon Smith age 11.

Deaconess Smith is very active at New Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, as she leads the Praise Team, sings on the Praise Chorale, Mass Choir, Pastor Aide Treasure, Youth Department Advisor, Church Secretary, Women’s Dance Team, Children’s Church Teacher (ages 9-12), Chaplin on the Deaconess Board, and assists with the Program, Decoration, Beautification Committees and Clothing and Food Bank Services.

Deaconess Smith understands that her praise is her weapon against the enemy; hence, she exhibits it as she ministers her praise through song. Deaconess Smith absolutely loves praising the Lord with her whole heart, and realizes that this is not the end of her spiritual journey for God has untouchable plans for her life as she continues to submit to his will.
